about

Illusion, a film by Kateř Tureček

In their original concept of a film as a computer game, the author presents her personal report from Budapest where she spent a year as a student. The viewer takes part in a game, going through several levels that put them into everyday situations related to the issues of contemporary Hungarian society. They see the capital through the eyes of tourists, but are primarily forced to think, from the perspective of the Hungarian people, about subjects such as the freedom of art, the right to education, medical care, and the questionable state of Hungarian politics. Subjects that are linked by the policies of Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban.

The music for the film was comprised of eight, minute-long, recordings, created by 6 different artists. After completing the fim, the artists were asked to further develop on their original pieces, which were then collected as the expanded film soundtrack.

All proceeds from the sale of this release go towards the community center Auróra in Budapest.
